Wheaton woman injured in wreck, man arrested

Vehicles collide at Route W near Butterfield

A Wheaton woman was injured Wednesday in a wreck at 5:55 p.m. on Route W, just west of Butterfield.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jared Hogan, 32, of Verona, was driving a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis southbound when his vehicle pulled into the path of a westbound 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, being driven by Melissa Cooper, 45, of Wheaton.

Hogan and Cooper were not injured. A passenger in Cooper’s vehicle, Jody Pettengill, 24, of Wheaton, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Cox Monett Hospital.

Cooper and Pettengill were wearing safety devices, and it is unknown if Hogan was wearing one. Both vehicles were totaled.

According to another Highway Patrol report, Hogan was arrested at 6:45 p.m. for driving while intoxicated. He has been released.
