Rev. Garry Martin Willoughby
Rev. Garry Martin Willoughby, 69, of Monett, passed away Saturday Jan. 19, 2019, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1950, in Wentworth, son of the late Harley Benton Willoughby and Mary Eathel (Loving) Willoughby. He graduated from Pierce City High School in 1968. He attended Southwest Baptist University. He began his many years of ministry in Sarcoxie, pastoring at Morningside Baptist Church. He pastored in several churches including Carr Lane Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Exeter before being called to Temple Baptist Church in Monett. He also owned and operated Willoughby Roof Truss, which has been in operation for over forty years. On March 17, 1973, in Springfield, he married Martha Clotfelter. To this union, three children were born. In addition to his wife of 45 years, Garry is survived by one son, Chris Willoughby and wife Debbi, of Monett; two daughters, Autumn D. Caraway and husband Jason, of Shiloh, Ill., and Joy Willoughby, of Monett; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Purdy First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Banks officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Oakdale Cemetery in Monett.
