Barbara Boyd LeCompte

Barbara Boyd LeCompte, age 89, of Cassville, passed away January 9, 2019, at the Cassville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born November 20, 1929, at her grandparent’s home in Marionville to E.W. “Ernie” Boyd and Maggie Boyd.

She attended and graduated Aurora High School in 1947.

She met her future husband, James William “Bill” LeCompte, at a Methodist youth fellowship meeting in Wheaton.

On November 28, 1948, at the Aurora Methodist Church, she united in marriage to Bill LeCompte. They were married for 62 years until his passing on April 30, 2011.

She is survived by her sister, Marylyn Hilton; three children, James William “Jim” LeCompte II, his wife Gayle and their three children, Danielle LeCompte and her husband Ryan Thomas, Gabrielle LeCompte, James William “Wil” LeCompte III; Richard LeBoyd LeCompte and his wife Nancy and their two children, Remy LeCompte and DeVere LeCompte; and Michael Zane LeCompte and his wife Jill and their children Victoria Zane LeCompte, Michael Zane LeCompte and Jillian Micol LeCompte; and one great-grandson Boyd William Thomas; and nephew Jeffrey Hilton and niece Michelle Belk.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and infant brother.

She was an active member of the Cassville United Methodist Church, singing in the choir for many years, teaching Sunday school and was the leader of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. She was a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of the Silver Leaf Benefit Club and the Garden Club, serving as president of both organizations. She was an avid bridge card player and played weekly until her health declined.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at United Methodist Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Andy Lambel conducted the services. Burial was at Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn.
