George Fredrick “Fred” Sherman
George Fredrick “Fred” Sherman, 76, of Exeter, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at his home.
He was born Dec. 8, 1942, in St. Paul, Kan., the son of George D. and Irene M. (Smith) Sherman. On Aug. 15, 1981, he was united in marriage to Neoma Ruth Adams, who survives.
Additional survivors include: three sons, Richard Bittle and his wife Diane of Galena, Ronnie Bittle and his wife Jayne of Neosho, and Lyle Bittle of Purdy; three daughters, Rebecca Jo Sherman and her husband Kevin of Holiday Island, Ark.; Phyllis Easley and her husband Ed of Cassville, and Debra Blankenship and her husband Pat of Jenkins; one sister, Joyce Kohley of Goodman; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Charles Sherman.
He grew up and received his education in Goodman, where he graduated from high school. On April 24, 1963, he joined the U.S. Army, serving until April 19, 1966. For 20 years, he was employed at Lazy Boy in Neosho and later worked at Able 2 as a lead man. He was a member of Goodman First Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Neosho Memorial Park in Neosho, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Jerry Yarnall conducted the services.
