Health Department doing coat drive

The Barry County Health Department is holding a coat/winter gear drive to help support the local schools and children in need. Drop offs are Save-a-lot and La Michoacana in Monett, and the Monett Barry County Health Department. Initially, items donated will be distributed to the local schools and any surplus will be kept at the Monett branch Health Department. People in need will be able to pick up from the health department location.

Medical equipment lending available

The Central Crossing Senior Center has medical equipment available to lend out free of charge to anyone in the community who is in need. Items include walkers, either plain or with seating; wheelchairs, push or motorized; canes; bedside commodes; toilet risers; toilet arms; shower or bath chairs of several types; and a limited number of adult diapers. The Center also has a board with an arm to help someone get out of bed. All items are on a first-come, first-served basis. Borrowers’ names and phone numbers are required for administrative purposes. The only requirement the Center asks is that durable items are returned when no longer needed. Anyone who could use the items may contact the Central Crossing Senior Center at 417-858-6952 or visit the facility 20801 YY-15 in Shell Knob. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
