Donald “Donnie” Dean Smith
Donald “Donnie” Dean Smith, 84, of Washburn, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Star Hollow on Aug. 19, 1934, the son of Jim and Lottie (Shockley) Smith. On July 8, 1953, he was united in marriage to Donna Laney, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Debra Wheeler and her husband Gary of Seligman, Deena Black and her husband Ray of Washburn and Dortha Brooks and her husband Allen also of Washburn; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one step grandson; one step great-grandson; three great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, James Everet Smith, Jr., Harlin Smith and his wife Eva, Cliss Smith and his wife Alma, and Roy Smith and his wife Kathryn and two sisters, Ruth Webber and her husband Clarence and Imogene Harrison and her husband Henry.
He grew up on the farm and attended school at Star Hollow, Mike’s Creek and Rocky Comfort. He attended First Baptist Church of Washburn.
Graveside services were held Saturday, at Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Bobby Harrison conducted the services.
