Church hosting Community Christmas Eve Meal

All are invited to share a free meal on Christmas Eve at Cassville United Methodist Church, located at 7th and Gravel streets. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include a baked potato bar, salad, dessert and drinks.

Herrin Animal Hospital hosting Toy Drive, Open House

Herrin Animal Hospital, located at 93 Smithson Drive in Cassville, will host its annual Toy Drive and Open House on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. While at the event, people may tour the American Animal Hospital Association-accredited hospital. People should also bring a new, unwrapped toy for the 19th annual toy Drive. To RSVP, people may call 417-847-5888.

Presiding commissioner to be honored

A retirement ceremony and reception will be held in honor of Barry County Presiding Commissioner Cherry Warren on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Barry County Courthouse. Warren, who has served six terms as presiding commissioner, will receive resolutions from the Missouri State House and Senate, and from other elected officials. Refreshments will be provided and the public is encouraged to attend.

Gun raffle winner named

The winner of the Pythagoras Lodge No. 383 gun raffle was Mardi Dodson, of Cassville. The Lodge wishes to thank everyone who participated in the raffle this year.

Eagle Rock Library hosting Christmas event

The Eagle Rock Library, along with the Friends of the Library, will host its annual Santa and Friends event on Saturday at 11 a.m. There will be crafts for the children, a story, Santa and more. All children are welcome. Santa will be available for photos from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and parents may bring their own cameras. If anyone has questions, they may contact the Library at 417-271-3186.

Roaring River State Park to host bald eagle viewing Saturday

When water sources freeze in the north, bald eagles migrate south to find food and water. People may join Roaring River State Park to watch for bald eagles along Roaring River at 3 p.m. Sat., Dec. 15. Watch a movie about the U.S. national symbol and participate in eagle-themed activities. Bring binoculars and spotting scopes to get a closer look at these magnificent birds. This event is free and open to the public. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and bring water and snacks. Roaring River State Park is located seven miles south of Cassville on Highway 112 in Barry County. Library to host holiday-themed painting project

A tween canvas painting project will be held at the library Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. The activity is reserved for ages 9-12 only, and the class size is limited to 12 participants. There is no charge, but registration is required by signing up in person at the library or calling the branch at 417-847-2121.
