Everet James “Jim” Edens
Everet James “Jim” Edens, 87, of Washburn, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
He was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Washburn, the son of Manford L. and Freida B. (Campbell) Edens.
On Oct. 14, 1950, he married Betty Imogene “Jean” Henry.
He grew up and received his education in Washburn, graduating from Washburn High School in 1949. In January 1951, he joined the Marine Corps and was deployed to Korea. He returned home June 7, 1952. He eventually moved back to the Edens homestead in Washburn. He was a member of Washburn First Baptist Church, served on the Southwest school board at Washburn, a member of the Washburn Road District and a member of VFW #4207 in Monett.
Survivors include: his wife, Imogene “Jean”, of the home; three daughters, Patricia Kay (Edens) Fielding and her husband Rick of Springfield, Gail Jean (Edens) Woodruff and her husband Tim of Gainesville, Fla., and Pamela Joyce (Edens) Tibbs and her husband Bill of Wylie, Texas; one brother, Bob Edens of Slidell, La.; two half-sisters, Lela Kolb of Ontario, Calif., and Marsha Solano of Pomona, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Jeannie Whitney; two half-brothers, Manford Edens and Marty Edens; and a great granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at First Baptist Church in Washburn under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Glenn Erwin will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be at Roller Cemetery in Washburn.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Washburn.
