Santa to trade cookies for breakfast food
Southwest offers breakfast, photos, activities with Santa Claus
Southwest schools’ Parents as Teachers program will offer Breakfast with Santa for children from birth to age 5.
Kandie Eads, Southwest school special services director said the event will be on Dec. 8 from 9-11 a.m. in the elementary cafeteria.
French toast sticks, sausage, juice, milk and coffee will be served for breakfast.
“There will also be the opportunity to take a photo with Santa, and some crafts for the children to do,” Eads said. “We will make some candy cane Christmas decorations, draw some elves and have a winter wonderland sensory bin.”
Eads said the event is aimed mostly at infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers within the district.
“Parents as Teachers is a program aimed at children from birth to 5-year-olds, with a focus on children from birth to 3 years old,” Eads said. “We have been doing this for several years, and the event is completely free.”
According to Eads, it is for younger children who don’t have a lot of activities in the area in which to participate.
“We are expecting to see about 60 children to come this year,” Eads said. “Santa will be there the whole time, and people can use their cameras or cell phones to take a picture of their children with Santa.
“We will have people who would be happy to take a photo and email it to the parent if they don’t have a camera or cell phone available.”
