Survey crews and aerial drones in Cassville

The City of Cassville is advising residents to expect to see traditional surveyor crews in the area, as well as aerial surveying using a remotely controlled drone, over the next several weeks. The survey work is being done to record utility and topographic data in the vicinity of planned water system improvements. The survey crews are employees of Allgeier Martin Civil Engineering, which is under contract with the City to prepare construction plans for the improvements. Christmas Shopping Extravaganza comes to Cassville

A Christmas Shopping Extravaganza will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, located at 210 W. 18th St. in Cassville. More than 20 different direct sales and hand-craft vendors will be attending, and more are being added each day. Each vendor will have multiple specials and something for everyone. Diva Bling by Jenn, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Scentsy, Thirty One, Cutie Bowtootie, Judy Rickman Crafts, LipSense, Clever Container, Paparazzi, Jordan Essentials, Young Living, Rubby Ribbon, Many hand crafted items, Jac’s Jewelry and many more have signed up. Santa will also be in attendance for photos.

Cassville Veterans Day assembly scheduled

Cassville High School will host its 30th annual Veterans Day assembly on Friday, at 9 a.m. The event will be located in the high school gymnasium and is open to the public that would like to attend. The assembly will include performances from the Cassville Mass Choir and Concert Band, a reading of essays written by Cassville students about the meaning of heroes and freedom, and a performance by the JROTC demonstrating the 13 folds of the U.S. Flag. Seating for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Any veterans that will be in attendance are invited to sign up at the registration table upon arrival so that they can be recognized for their service during the ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony, there will be a reception for all veterans and their family members in the FEMA gym. For any additional information, people may contact the school at 417-847-3137.

Wheaton to host Veterans Day assembly

Wheaton High School will host a Veterans Day assembly on Friday at 10 a.m. in the high school gymnasium to recognize and honor local veterans and their families. This will be followed by a lunch provided by the Wheaton FFA Chapter for veterans and their families.

First Baptist to deliver Thanksgiving meals

On Thanksgiving Day, volunteers of First Baptist Church Cassville will deliver hot meals to homebound individuals. Anyone who is homebound, or who would like to submit the name of a homebound individual to receive a Thanksgiving meal, may call the First Baptist Church office at 417-847-2965 by Tuesday.

Annual Merchants Open House upcoming

Anyone who could use an extra $100 to spend this holiday season should visit the ever popular Annual Merchants’ Open House, which will take place on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Shell Knob. This year’s list of merchants, so far, includes: Eagles Shopping for a Cause, Old Church Gallery, Ophelia Jane Boutique, Jug & Plug, Treasures Then & Now, Pro’s Choice, Sovereign Floors, Fuzz Whackers, Meek’s and Turtle Crossing. Participants must visit each merchant to be eligible for the $100 cash prize and any in-store giveaways. Southwest Project Graduation hosting Thanksgiving dinner

The Southwest Class of 2019 will host a Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the commons area of Southwest High School. The meal will include: turkey, ham and dressing; mashed potatoes and gravy; corn; green beans; a dinner roll; dessert; and a drink. The cost is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children 10-and-under. All proceeds benefit Project Graduation.

List of veterans in Exeter Maplewood Cemetery being updated

The Exeter FFA, in conjunction with Maplewood Cemetery Association, is updating the list of veterans buried in Exeter Maplewood Cemetery to place flags on Friday. Anyone who knows of any veterans buried at this location should contact the Exeter FFA at to make sure that they are listed.

Eagles Ladies Auxiliary hosting fundraiser

The Shell Knob Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary will host “Shopping for a Cause” on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lodge on Highway 39 in Shell Knob. Proceeds will benefit His House Foundation and the Alliance of Churches. The event gives an opportunity for people to shop, eat lunch and give back to the community. Central Crossing hosting garage sale

On Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Central Crossing Senior Center will host a garage sale for the benefit of the lunch salad bar. People may rent a space with table for $10. The Center has a few rectangular and card tables available for use, as well as many round tables. People may also bring their own tables. People may call 417-858-6952 to rent a space. Some space will be available outside.
