Vehicle wrecks on Hwy. 112 east of Seligman

A Pierce City teenager was killed Saturday in a wreck at 2:21 p.m. on Highway 112, five miles east of Seligman.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tyler Tuell, 22, of Monett, was driving a 2003 Saturn L200 southbound when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

A passenger in the vehicle, Scott Yates, 18, of Pierce City, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:08 p.m. by Paramedic Corey Cannon. Tuell suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Another passenger, Michael Love, 23, of Exeter, suffered minor injuries and refused treatment on the scene.

Yates and Love were wearing safety devices, and Tuell was not. The vehicle was totaled.

This is the 108th fatal wreck of the year for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Lawrence and Barry.

A GoFuneMe account has been set up for Yates’ family to help with funeral expenses. People may donate at www.gofundme.com/scott-yates-funeral-expenses.
