Woman dies in bike wreck
Harley slides off roadway, hits tree on Hwy. 76
An Arkansas woman died and another person was seriously injured in a wreck at 1:38 p.m. on Highway 76, five miles north of Shell Knob.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Edward Harkreader, 58, of Henderson, Ark., was driving a 2018 Harley Davidson Triglide westbound when his vehicle slid off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
A passenger in the vehicle, Dawn Davis, 59, of Hackett, Ark., was pronounced dead on the scene at 2 p.m. by Shell Knob Fire District Chief Russel Rickard, per Barry County Coroner Jim Fohn. Harkreader suffered serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Both were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle sustained extensive damage.
this is the 83rd fatality of the year for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
