Michigan pair hospitalized after wreck
Two men from Michigan were injured Tuesday in a wreck at 4:15 a.m. in an area the Missouri State Highway Patrol listed as a private pipeline clear cut, six miles south of Wheaton.
According to a Patrol report, Chad Lax, 36, of White Cloud, Mich., was driving a 2008 GMC U-Haul northbound when his vehicle drove off a bluff and overturned.
Lax suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin. A passenger in the vehicle, Henry Helms, 50, of Wyoming, Mich., suffered serious injuries and was transported to Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark.
Lax was wearing a safety device, and Helms was not. The vehicle was totaled.
