Annual Farwell Reunion scheduled

The annual Farwell Family Reunion will be held Saturday at the Cassville High Scho0l commons area beginning at 11:30 a.m. Pictures will be taken at 1 p.m. Local family members are asked to bring a covered dish. Southwest releases back to school information

Children will return to classes at the Southwest school district on Thursday, Aug. 9.  Teachers come back Monday, Aug. 6 and have three in-service professional development days. Elementary students may start enrolling any time Monday through Friday from 8 a.m to noon and 1-3:30 p.m. Middle school students may enroll at the same times. High School students may start enrolling on Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-3:30 p.m. Fifth-grade orientation will be Monday, Aug. 6 at 5 p.m. in the Elementary cafeteria. Students will get their schedules then. Freshman orientation will be Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. in the High School Commons area, and students will get their schedules. Pre-k through 12th grade Open House is Tuesday, Aug. 7, 4-6 p.m. 

Bus Drivers will be in the Elementary Library during Open House to meet the students or if parents need to ask about bus routes. High School students can pick up their schedules starting Monday, Aug 6 at 9 a.m. Middle School students can pick up their schedules at Open House or after.

Wheaton schools releases back to school information

Wheaton schools has released the following information for junior high and high school students:

• Senior schedules pick up: Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Junior schedules pick up: Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Fall sports practices begin Aug. 6

• Freshmen and sophomore schedules pick up: Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Seventh and eighth grade schedules pick up: Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Open House Aug. 13 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

• Classes begin Aug. 14

There is no back to school supply list for this building.

CCW permit holders reminded to renew

The Barry County Sheriff’s Office is asking conceal and carry permit holders to not forget that five-year renewals will begin in August. Anyone who purchased or renewed their permit in August 2013 must renew this year. While a permit is not required in Missouri, anyone without a permit could be arrested in bordering states without constitutional carry. Renewals can be obtained at the Barry County Sheriff’s Office from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. People must bring their current CCW card, valid Missouri identification and the $50 fee, which can be paid by cash, check or debit/credit card for an extra fee. Anyone with questions may call the Sheriff’s office at 417-847-6556.

Cassville Class of 2013 records being purged

Cassville High School will be purging the cumulative school records for the graduating Class of 2013. Those who would like to have their records must pick them up in person at the high school between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in July, or between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in August. Anyone unable to pick them up in person but would like someone else do it must provide a signed request before records can be released.

Absentee voting for Aug. 7 primary continues

Absentee voting for the Aug. 7 Primary Election continues through Aug. 6 at the Barry County Clerk’s Office in Cassville, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If unable to vote in person, a voter may send a written request to the office of: Gary Youngblood, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO 65625 or fax to: 417-847-5311. The office will need: name, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, last four digits of Social Security number, phone number, reason for voting absentee and signature. The last day to request a ballot be mailed is Aug. 1. Those who live in the Shell Knob or Monett area may go to the Shell Knob Chamber or Monett Chamber Office and fill out the absentee application. They will fax it to the Barry County Clerk’s office.
