Cassville schedule features 4 home games

August is always a busy month for students.

Not only does school begin, but the fall sports season will open as well.

The Wildcats football team will find out in August what their official classification and who their new district opponents, if any, are.

This is the first year the state has begun its yearly reclassification, which is dictated by enrollment numbers.

In short, schools and fans will not know with 100 percent certainty what class they are in or who their district opponents will be until August of each season.

What is known is who the Wildcats are going to play during their regular season slate.

Cassville High School has released the 2018 schedule, and it features five road games and four home contests.

Due to the expansion of the Big 8 Conference from eight teams to 14, every game on the Wildcat schedule is a conference game, which adds even more performance pressure to what was an already demanding conference lineup.

Fans will be able to catch a glimpse of the Wildcats on Aug. 17 with the annual Jamboree. Traditionally, this has been held at JFK Stadium in Springfield.

The season for the Wildcats begins on the road against long-time foe Aurora on Aug. 24.

Cassville closes the month one week later with its home opener with conference newcomer Springfield Catholic.

September typically brings cooler temperatures, but the action on the field will be scorching as the Barry County Brawl with Cassville meeting the Purple and Gold on Sept. 7 at Burl Fowler Stadium in Monett.

One week later, Cassville returns home to face a vastly improved Seneca squad and then follows that trip up with a visit to Newton County to face East Newton on Sept. 21.

A home date awaits the Wildcats on Sept. 28 with McDonald County to wrap up the month. The game will also serve as the teamís homecoming.

October opens with a trip to Nevada on Oct. 5. Cassville hits the road again and heads to Reeds Spring on Oct. 12, and the regular season ends on Senior Night Oct. 19 when Lamar comes to the Wildcat jungle.

All games are slated to kickoff at 7 p.m.
