Quilts offered in drawing for Stones Prairie picnic

Preparations are underway for the annual picnic on July 20 at the St. Johnís Lutheran Church at Stones Prairie, northeast of Purdy. Chances are available for a drawing where several prize quilts and afghans will be given away. The big prize, at center, is a queen size quilt, Burgoyne Gardens pattern, magenta, greens and golds, pieced by Nancy Kielblock and hand quilted by St Johnís quilters: Helen Rupp, Margaret Rupp, Nancy Kielbock, Lillian Schad, Carolyn Schad, Mary Schad and Betty Meier. It is held by Carole Heller, left, and Carolyn Schad. Also available will be a crochet afghan, garnet and white, made by Margaret Rupp, at left, and a baby quilt at right, with a wise little owls motif with multicolor blocks, pieced and appliqued by Carolyn Schad, hand quilted by St Johnís quilters. The picnic will be held from 6-9 p.m. on July 20. Chances are available for $1. The church is located at 5732 Farm Road 1057, approximately three miles west of Highway 37.
