1. Why do you want to be presiding commissioner?

Barry County has made great progress since I have been Presiding Commissioner. My goal is to keep Barry County moving forward.

2. What makes you more qualified for office than your opponents?

I will continue to work for all citizens, listening and solving problems. My experience and relationships will continue to benefit Barry County. An example of this is that I am the Chairman of the Highway 37-60 Highway Corridor coalition representing five counties which has successfully advocated for the improvement of both Highway’s 37 and 60 improved with passing lanes and we will continue to work to get additional improvements to both highways including improvement to Highway 37 to the Arkansas State Line.

3. What is the biggest problem facing Barry County? What moves do you plan to make toward solving it in your next/first term?

There is no question in my mind that drugs and the effects of drugs are the biggest problem Barry County faces. The problem will not be solved by one solution. We need to support the Sheriff’s office and other local and state law enforcement; implement programs which will help prevent drug abuse and support rehabilitation; and support families, churches and schools in drug prevention efforts. The County under my leadership has adopted a prescription drug ordinance to try to limit the opioid abuse problem in our county.

4. What specific goals do you plan to accomplish in your next/first term?

Drugs and criminal activities associated with Drugs are the biggest problem the County faces. In my next term I want to continue to increase the capacities and quality of the Sheriff’s office and our law enforcement.

5. Are you happy with how the commission distributes funds? If so, why? If not, what do you plan to do about it?

You will always need to continue to improve the operations of the office And the county. I have and will continue to make changes to improve the county and make county government more efficient.
