Second Ranch Rodeo to ride at arena on June 30
Secretary: ‘The Ranch Rodeo is your everyday cowboys’
The Cassville FFA Booster Club will host its next Buckle Series Ranch Rodeo event for the public at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Bill Hailey Arena in Cassville.
The rodeo, which helps raise funds to support FFA Chapter activities, will make the second in a five-part series, and will again feature pasture team roping, sorting and doctoring, trailer loading, branding and a mystery event. A 20-team limit exists on events.
Entry fees are $60 per person; $240 per team, and must be paid by 6:30 p.m. on the evening of the event. Buckles will be awarded to series winners.
Mutton Busting for children ages 8 and younger, with a 20-rider limit, will also be held. Entries are $25 per rider, which must be called in to 417-342-6965 or 342-0406.
Lindee Mitchell, Exeter FFA Chapter secretary and FFA Booster Club member, commented on the first Ranch Rodeo, held May 19.
“We had a pretty good turnout for the event including a lot of families, so it was good,” she said.
With the rodeo series events being the first of its kind, Mitchell compared them to other rodeo-related events that occur in Cassville.
“I do not think there’s ever been a Ranch Rodeo before,” she said. “The Rotary Club has the rodeo, which has every event from team roping to bull riding, and the Bull Blast is strictly bulls, but the Ranch Rodeo is like your everyday cowboys who work at the sale barns in Joplin, Springfield and Northwest Arkansas who do this every day, bringing in and sorting cattle, etc.
“It’s interesting to watch because they get to show you what they do every day. A lot of them have jobs where they do the exact same thing they come to the Ranch Rodeo to do.”
General admission is $5 for adults; ages 6 and under free. Concessions are available.
