One of the most explosive and dynamic basketball players in the state of Missouri has announced his intention to play basketball at the college level.

Purdy High School 2018 graduate Colt Keeling signed papers binding him to Missouri Southern State University in Joplin and to Coach Jeff Boschee’s Lions this fall.

Keeling, this past season with the Eagles, was named Pierce City Tournament MVP and Ozark 7 Conference MVP.

He also set the Purdy single-season scoring record with 723 points. He led the Eagles to the Class 2 Final Four in Springfield.

“Colt is a good athlete, but he’s an even better person,” said Jeremy Dresslaer, Purdy High School boys basketball coach. “I am so excited that he gets this opportunity to pursue his higher education at the school of his choice. Basketball is a bonus, so it’s a perfect fit.”

Keeling is the second Barry County athlete to sign with MSSU this season, joining Cassville’s Madi Stokes. He is the second Purdy athlete in recent years to become a Lion. Brooke Swadley was the last to sign with the school from Purdy.
