Ray receives first place in essay contest

Cassville Middle School student Elizabeth Ray received first place in the Missouri Peace Officers’ Association Eighth Grade Essay Contest, Missouri West Division. Ray’s essay was entitled, Social Media: Bringing Us Together or Tearing Us Apart. During the CMS Awards Assembly, Trooper Terry Bible presented Ray with her winnings. She will receive $300, and her essay will be published in Law Enforcement magazine. Because of Ray’s winnings, the school was presented with a $100 donation, and CMS communications arts teacher, Leslie McCullough, was also given $100. Ray is the daughter of Barbie and Curtis Ray of Cassville.
