Local waterslide celebrates 40th year

Wednesday, May 30, 2018
Jerry Beebe, of Beebe’s Roaring River Waterslide, takes a break preparing the slide for the season on Tuesday, as he has done every year for the past 25 years, to visit with his granddaughter Marlee Beebe, 5. The twisty 300-plus foot waterside opened with a splash on Saturday. The family-owned attraction, which is located on the left side of Highway 112 just one-quarter mile from the entrance of Roaring River State Park, has been in the family for 25 years. Previous to their ownership, the slide operated for 15 years (beginning in 1978) under the name of Laverne and Shirley’s Mountain — making 2018 its 40th year of offering local and area residents summer family fun. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week, and concessions and a picnic area in a picturesque setting are available. Julia Kilmer/reporter@cassville-democrat.com
