Cassville man charged with kidnapping
Suspect allegedly drove victim around, abused victim
A Cassville man is facing two felonies after allegedly kidnapping and abusing a victim over a period of about an hour on May 12.
Brett McClain, 42, of Cassville, is charged with first-degree kidnapping and second-degree domestic assault.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Cody Stephens, deputy with the Barry County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place starting on Farm Road 1125 and continued to Hodge Drive in Cassville.
McClain allegedly threw the victim into his vehicle and drove in the area for about an hour, inflicting contusions on the victim's arm and not letting the victim leave the next day until about noon.
McClain also allegedly choked the victim to the point of near black out, and he allegedly struck the victim multiple times.
McClain is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $50,000. He has been arraigned, and a disposition hearing is set for Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
The victim in the case has been granted a full ex parte order against McClain.
