Varner named Student of the Year

After a vote from Cassville High School staff, senior Payton Varner was named the first-ever Student of the Year by the Holiday Island Elks Club Lodge #1042, which will award him $200. Payton plans to attend Crowder College where he will study education and history. Varner is the president of FCA, volunteers at the Herschend Tree Farm, is a member of the A+ Program, FBLA, FFA, Interact Club-Treasurer, Youth Advisory Board, NHS Leadership candle/officer, Academic Letter all four years, FFA Chapter Degree, Mr. Merry Christmas King, Elks Lodge student of the quarter, State Farm student of the month, FFA Contest Team, Honor Roll, Rotary Camp for Leadership RYLA, Basketball summer camp (two years), helped K-6, Coached Little League Baseball, Concession Stand for Demolition Derby, Rodeo, Bull Buckout and Tractor Pull events, Speaker at Rotary Club, PAT, volunteer for Fall Festival, NHS Blood Drive and does daily morning announcements for the CHS student body.
