Exeter Academic Team takes national stage

On April 27, the Exeter High School Academic Team Traveled to Chicago, Ill., to compete at the Small School National Championship Tournament. Both Varsity and JV Teams competed. This was a return appearance for the Varsity team. The team finished 61st out of 96 teams, improving their record by seven places over the previous year. Varsity team members were: Juniors Andrew Blake, Jarrett Brattin, Rebecca Barton, Quartny Allen and Emalee Davis, and seniors Caleb Tucker, Madelyn Cole and Khoa Tran. Team members Andrew Blake finished 71st, and Jarrett Brattin finished 82nd out of 527 total competitors.  Other stats for the year include the team record of 5-1 in the conference and finishing second in the conference tournament to Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School of Joplin. The team also finished third out of approximately 20 teams in the Reeds Spring Tournament. Juniors Andrew Blake, Jarrett Brattin and Rebecca Barton led scoring for the year. The Junior Varsity Team placed 94 out of 96 teams in Chicago, gaining experience in competing at a large tournament. Junior Jordan Eagan; sophomores Cameron Weston, Camille Kho and An Tran; and freshmen Aubrie Graham and Lane Willis competed. Security Bank of Southwest Missouri sponsored the team Polos worn during the tournament.
