Woman dies in Hwy. 60 wreck
Second person airlifted to Springfield hospital
A Cassville woman died Friday in a wreck at 9:43 a.m. on Highway 60, two miles west of Monett.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jimmie Davidson, 79, of Cassville, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet HHR southbound when her vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck in the side by a westbound 1989 Chevrolet pickup, being driven by Perry Cantrell, 80, of Springfield.
Davidson was pronounced dead by Lawrence County Coroner Scott Lakin at 10 a.m. Her body was transported to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
Cantrell suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
Both were wearing safety devices, and both vehicles were totaled.
This is the 35th fatal wreck of the year for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Lawrence and Barry.
