Ira Jay “Jake” Brock
Ira Jay “Jake” Brock, 84, of Cassville, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his home.
He was born July 9, 1933, in Seminole, Okla., the son of Ernest and Jessie (Wishman) Brock. On July 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dottie Russell, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jay Lynn Brock and his wife Ranae of Lee’s Summit, and Russell Ernest Brock and his wife Sheree of Branson; one brother, Don Brock of Shell Knob; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Loren, Kermit and Howard Brock; and one sister, Cuma Vaughan.
He attended eight years of school in Oklahoma and then graduated from Cassville High School. During the Korean War he was in the U.S. Army. For several years, he was employed at Contel, then GTE and retired from Verizon. He was a member of Blessing Heights Worship Center in Cassville.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Blessing Heights Worship Center in Cassville under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Brad Hudson will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be at Painter Cemetery in Shell Knob.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Blessing Heights Worship Center in Cassville.
