Monett man arrested for pharmacy burglary
Suspect allegedly ingests pills while police attempted arrest
A Monett man was arrested in Cassville recently after allegedly breaking into Sater Pharmacy on Main Street and stealing numerous pills and syringes.
Bill Dunbar, 34, of Monett, is charged with second-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, stealing a controlled substance, resisting arrest and first-degree property damage.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Jeremy Thomas, officer with the Cassville Police Department, authorities responded to an alarm call at the business, finding the front secure but hearing the alarm and movement inside the building.
Thomas announced himself, and Dunbar allegedly exited the business and failed to follow commands, emptying a bag with numerous medications taken from the pharmacy onto the ground, along with numerous containers of medications and syringes. Dunbar then allegedly laid on top of the pills and began ingesting multiple pills of an unknown type, then got up and fled on foot.
With the assistance of Barry County Sheriff's Office deputies, Dunbar was captured.
Dunbar is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $75,000. He has been arraigned, and a disposition hearing is scheduled for May 22 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
