Driver charged with DWI after vehicle hits tree

A Mt. Vernon woman was injured Sunday in a wreck at 8:14 pm. on Farm Road five miles east of Purdy.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Makenzie McDonald, 22, of Mt. Vernon, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado when her vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree.

McDonald suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Cox Hospital in Springfield.

She was wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.

At 10:14 p.m., McDonald was arrested for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. She was released for medical care.
