Drug task force nets 16 arrests in March
More than 300 grams of meth seized
In a 17-day period in March, the Barry County Sheriff’s Office and the Ozark Drug Enforcement Team (ODET) were busy in the local area serving warrants, making arrests and seizing drugs.
From March 5-22, the Sheriff's Office and ODET made 16 arrests for narcotics and weapons violations, cleared 12 fugitive arrest warrants that were active from Hawaii, Alaska, Arkansas and Missouri, and served eight search warrants in Barry County. The warrants were served in Cassville, Mineral Springs, Exeter, Seligman and Shell Knob.
Authorities seized 303.2 grams of methamphetamine, 35 grams of marijuana, 100 hits of LSD, 3 grams of DMT and numerous prescription narcotics. During these operations, authorities also seized 6 firearms from individuals who should not have had them, with one federal case charged and possible federal charges pending against others.
"The Barry County Sheriff’s Office has been working hard to make Barry County a place we are proud to call home," a press release said. "We could not have done it without the assistance of ODET and other law enforcement agencies in the county. We are looking forward to continued efforts and team work with the other agencies.
"This is just the beginning and we want the drug dealers to know the Barry County Sheriff’s Office and the Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team are here to stay and will hunt them down and make them pay if they are dealing drugs and are felons in possession of guns."
