Man injured in deputy-involved shooting
Highway Patrol: Suspect wounded by gunshot, deputies did not seek treatment
Two Barry County deputies were involved in a shooting on Wednesday afternoon, where the suspect in the case was injured.
According to Sgt. John Lueckenhoff, Missouri State Highway Patrol public information and education officer, two Barry County deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a home on Channel Cat Lane north of Shell Knob and Highway YY.
"They came in contact with a man at that address," Lueckenhoff said. "There was a struggle between the man and the deputies. At some point, a firearm went off.
"The suspect was injured and taken to a nearby hospital, and the two deputies are okay."
Lueckenhoff said the deputies did not seek any treatment for injuries. The suspect suffered a gunshot wound and has non-life threatening injuries.
Lueckenhoff said Barry County Sheriff Gary Davis requested the Highway Patrol investigate the incident.
"Because his deputies were involved, [the sheriff] felt it would be prudent to have an outside agency investigate," he said.
Leuckenhoff said names are being withheld at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.
