Information provided: I retired for the Cassville School system after 32 years of employment. While I was their I worked in the primary and high school. My husband and I also were small business owners of a home interior business for 22 years. I have been involved in church, school, member of the Chamber of Commerce and involved in many of their activities and am now serving on the Barry County Board for the Developmentally Disabled. Also, worked on the fund raising committee for the new library that was built several years ago. Being involved in many different activities, I feel I understand this communities great qualities and also its needs.

1. Why do you want to win this position?

I believe the role of the School Board is to have an overview of what the school needs to make the decisions that will be the best learning place for all our students. Sometimes the decisions are easy and sometimes very difficult. Because of my past experience as an alumni, parent and school employee I feel I understand what it takes to keep our school moving forward and preparing our student to graduate and go into the career of their choice.

2. If elected, what is your number one goal on the school board?

My goal as a board member is to make sure our teachers have the materials, technology, facilities and administrative support they need to teach our students.

3. What areas of the school district do you think need improvement?

As a school board, we work on improvement as they arise. The administrators and teachers make requests as they need through the year. We try to meet those needs as we can when funds are available to do so.

4. Which building project should the district complete next?

The concession stand by the football stadium is in need of repair and upgrade. Also, the “old grade school” as it is known to many needs to be repaired and updated so it can be used for additional class rooms.

5. What do you feel is most important for raising the quality of education provided by Cassville schools?

I think the most important things we can do for raising the quality of education for our school is to keep the best teachers, the best materials and facilities possible for our students. We have excellent teacher and staff who work very hard to present new curriculum and technology to make sure our students have what they will need to enter college, the work force or whatever they decide to do in their life.
