Wheaton girls claim No. 2 district seed
Lady Bulldogs, Exeter open tourney play Saturday
Hard work and dedication have been rewarded for the Wheaton girls this season in the form of a No. 2 Class 1, District 5 seed.
The Lady Bulldogs and Exeter head to Willard on Saturday in hopes of keeping the hoops season alive and advancing in tourney play.
Walnut Grove secured the No. 1 seed, with Wheaton voted the No. 2. Dadeville secured the No. 3 seed followed by Exeter, No. 5; Greenfield, No. 6; and Hurley, No. 7.
This year’s event will be hosted at Willard High School and action begins at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with Wheaton and Hurley, followed by Dadeville and Greenfield. The winners of those two matches meet on Feb. 21 at 5:45 p.m. in the semifinals.
Exeter and Golden City tip at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the winner playing Walnut Grove in the semifinal at 4:30 p.m. the following Wednesday.
The championship game is set for 6 p.m. on Feb. 23.
