Youth soccer gets competitive boost
Teams forming to help Cassville keep pace with neighbors
In the hopes of helping Cassville gain a more competitive edge on the pitch, a group of die-hard soccer fanatics has come together to form the Seven Valleys Soccer Club.
According to Mike Driskill, one of the team’s organizers, the current coed 10-and-under and 12-and-under teams are to help grow Cassville players to a more competitive level early.
“Right now, kids can play at the YMCA and then there is a gap until high school competitions,” Driskill said. “We want to give those kids that excel a chance to go and compete and help our high school team out in the long run.”
The club is affiliated with Four States Competitive Soccer and games will be played in Joplin. The league in Cassville is open to all players and tryouts will be held Feb. 24.
The cost to play, according to Driskill, will be between $75 to $100 depending on sponsorships, and uniforms will be provided.
