Mary Louise Thomas, 95, (formerly of Cassville) passed away at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. She was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Cassville, the daughter of Leo and Lura Brown Robberson.

She was married to Charles Doyle Thomas for nearly 61 years. They were married Sept. 20, 1942; he preceded her in death in September 2003.

She became a Christian at an early age, growing up on Flat Creek in Barry County. She was very active in church work and was music director at the First Baptist Church, Cassville, for many years. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Joplin.

She received her Bachelor of Education degree with certification in English and Music from Missouri State University, Springfield, and her masterís degree from Drury University, Springfield. She taught school in many Barry County schools, retiring from Cassville High School where she had taught most of her 30 year career.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lynette Clemons and husband, Tom, of Defiance, Mo. She is also survived by three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

A private burial will take place at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin with services being held at a later date.
