Lawrence “Larry” Caddell

Lawrence “Larry” Caddell, 91, of Shell Knob, passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018. He was born on Dec. 24, 1926, in Jasper, son of Earl and Esther (Forste) Caddell. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Merchant Marines as a supply sergeant and was on the Hiroshima Military Government Team. On Jan. 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Alberta Landis in Stilwell, Kan. He worked as a driver for 20 years, and then owned and operated Caddell Tours for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shell Knob.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Bert Caddell; three sons, Terry Caddell, Jerry Caddell and his wife Becky, all of Shell Knob, and Barry Caddell and his wife Becky, of Peculiar; one daughter, Sheri Brooks and her husband Ray, of Perry, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Sharon Caddell, of Shell Knob; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Caddell, of Kansas City; and two sisters, Betty McCain, of Raytown, and Connie Preston, of Holden. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Caddell; and one brother, Murl Caddell.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Shell Knob, with Pastor Bob Gaddis officiating; full military honors were provided by V.F.W. Post #2203. Burial was at Mikeman Cemetery in Shell Knob.

Funeral Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville.
