During the week of January 21-27, communities across the state of Missouri will honor the dedicated service of local boards of education during School Board Recognition Week.

The goal is to build awareness and understanding of the important function an elected board of education plays in communities and schools.

“Our community and our students benefit every day from the countless volunteer hours devoted by our Board of Education members,” stated Dr. Richard Asbill, Cassville school district superintendent.

“Our Board is dedicated to our school district and work hard to represent our various communities that entrust us with their children. The Board understands the difficult challenges that come with operating a school district but are mindful to keep decisions based on students. Their decisions not only affect our students and community today, but create a lasting impact on the future of Cassville schools. For that, we appreciate them immensely.”

The Cassville school district is governed by a seven-member board that meets monthly. Board of Education members serve a three-year term. Current board members are: David Haddock, Jon Horner, Becky Henningson, Carolyn Bowen, Chad Yarnall, Jeremy Marple and John Sullivan. During the January Board of Education meeting, Cassville Community Teachers Association (CCTA) members presented the board with an appreciation gift. School Board Recognition Week is sponsored by the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA), a private, nonprofit organization that exists to help school boards succeed.
