Timothy J. Wilson, 77, of Shell Knob, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation in Cassville.

He was born Dec. 10, 1940, in Kansas City, the son of Leo and Margaret (Revitte) Wilson. On May 11, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Spiegelhalter who survives.

Additional survivors include: three sons, Tim and his wife Lisa of Pittsburgh, Penn., Pete and his wife Raquel of Springville, Iowa, and Mark and his wife Charlene of Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Mike Wilson and his wife Chris of Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, Peggy Turner of Kansas City, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Geralyn Brown and Patricia Koenig.

He grew up in Kansas City, where he graduated from De La Salle Academy high school. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He returned to Kansas City and pursued a bachelorís degree, a masterís degree and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri Ė Kansas City School of Dentistry. In 1982, he moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where he was an oral surgeon. In 1992, he rejoined the Navy as a Lt. Commander as an Oral surgeon and served in Kosovo and was aboard the USS Nimitz. He retired from the Navy in 1995 with an honorable discharge and joined the VA Medical Center. He became Chief of the VA Dental Clinic in La Jolla, California and held that position until he retired in 2009. In 2010, he and Mary Ann moved to Shell Knob. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob and the Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery (located behind the VA Medical Center) in Leavenworth, Kan. on Jan.12 at 1:30 p.m.

Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
