James Latshaw, 88, of Monett, Mo., passed away on Friday evening, January 5, 2018, while at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
James was born on June 4, 1929, on a farm near King’s Prairie, son of the late Orval V. Latshaw and Mabel M. (Spencer) Latshaw.
James went to work on the line at Jumping Jack Shoe Co. in Monett in 1950. He moved to Cassville with Jumping Jack as Lasting Supervisor. At the closing of Jumping Jack Shoe Co., James was the Plant Manager. He then went to work for Justin Boot in 1980 and retired on June 24, 1994, as Missouri Division Manager of four different factories. James was a member of First Baptist Church in Monett, where he had served as a Deacon and was a Sunday school teacher.
On September 25, 1970, James married Dixie L. Atwell. They were blessed with over 47 years of wonderful memories made together.
James is survived by his wife, Dixie Latshaw, of the home; two sons, Michael Latshaw and wife Annitta and Randy Latshaw and wife Sheryl; one daughter, Pamela Busdieker and husband Leon; one sister, Marjorie Stark; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Flinn; his first wife, Bonnie (Lansdown) Latshaw; four brothers, Leo, Lewis, John and Gene Latshaw; and one sister, Mary Adams.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Monett, with Dr. Bill Cox and Reverend Jimmie Copley officiating. Interment will follow at Purdy Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
