Michael R. Flummerfelt
Michael R. Flummerfelt, 69, of Pierce City, died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born in Springfield, April 1, 1948., son of George and Ruth (Munson) Flummerfelt. He married Carolyn Kyle on July 8, 1967.
He managed a Piggly Wiggly store in Springfield, Milgrams in Springfield, Milgrams in Cassville, and Ramey’s (Moss Market) in Monett. In 1987, he opened up his own grocery store, Flummerfelt’s Town and Country Supermarket, in Pierce City. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Surviving are the following: his wife, Carolyn; one son, Mark Flummerfelt and partner, Shelly Younker, of Pierce City; one brother, Steve and wife, Leslie Flummerfelt of Strafford; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Matt Flummerfelt, in 1980.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, at the First Baptist Church in Pierce City, under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home of Pierce City. He was cremated at his request.
