Senior Center hosting open breakfast
Hot meal now once a month
In addition to their regularly scheduled events, the Cassville Senior Center announced that it will be offering two events in January to benefit both seniors and the community.
On Jan. 4, the Center will offer benefit counseling to seniors, by appointment.
"A Care Coordinator from SeniorAge will be at the Center to assist seniors with various applications such as Medicaid, energy assistance, food stamps, etc.," said Kristina Atwood, center administrator. "She will also be able to answer questions about whether a person is eligible for any of the programs. We have someone come to the center for benefit counseling once per month, usually on the first Thursday of each month."
To make an appointment for benefit counseling, people may call the Center at 417-847-4510.
The Center will also be offering an open breakfast on Jan. 17, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., as a service not just to seniors, but to the community, and thereby, help bring people in from the cold for a hot meal and a little fellowship, too.
"It is open to everyone in the community, and is free to attend, although we do accept donations," said Atwood. "It is a self-serve, hot breakfast, and in the past, we have served biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon and eggs. We had been offering breakfast every other month, but have decided to expand it to offer it once every month."
For January, the hot breakfast will include biscuits and gravy, waffles, fruit and assorted other items.
