Nhia Houa Yang

Nhia Houa Yang, 99, of Washburn, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Bentonview Park Health & Rehabilitation in Monett.

He was born Dec. 2, 1918, in Huam Kha Laos, the son of Xai Pao Yang and True Xiong. He married Ker Chang, who preceded him in death and later married Kia Xiong, who also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: five sons, Joshua F Yang and his wife Sara K Yang of Sheboygan, Wis., Long Yang and his wife Blia Vang of Washburn, Wa Yang and his wife Angela of Wheaton, Nhaoher Yang and his wife LeeAnn of Washburn, and Tong Yang and his wife Linda Lee of Grafton, Wis.; one daughter, Seng Yang of Laos; 29 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; and 35 great-great grandchildren.

During the Vietnam War he served in the Secret Service. In 1989, he moved from Laos to the United States to make his home and then moved to Washburn 15 years ago. He was a self-employed farmer.

Services were held from 8 a.m. Saturday, until Monday, Jan. 1, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Burial with military honors was held Monday, Jan. 1, at Lake Park Memorial Gardens in Shell Knob.
