Sharon Kay Freeman
Sharon Kay Freeman, 74, of Purdy, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, at her home.
She was born Oct. 22, 1943, in Ritchey, the daughter of William “Bill” and Pearl Mae (Clevenger) Grimes. On March 10, 1960, she was united in marriage to James Sparks, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Doyle Ray Sparks; one stepson, Jack Freeman; one brother, Doyle Grimes; and two grandsons.
On March 15, 2012, she married Melvin K. “Kenny” Freeman, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Jimmy Lee Sparks of Cassville; one daughter, Teresa Boxley and her husband Karroll of Cassville; a daughter-in-law, Madonna Sparks of Cassville; three step-daughters, Rhonda Sartin of Exeter, Tammie Williamson and her husband Carroll and Deanna Carver and her husband Chris all of Purdy; one brother, Billy Ray Grimes of Green River, Wy.; a half-sister, Judy West of Joplin; 10 grandchildren; sixteen step grandchildren and several great grandchildren, step great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She attended school at Ritchey, Purdy and received her GED at Pierce City. For 14 years, she was employed at Jumping Jacks and then worked at Fasco for 24 years. She had also been employed a short time at Able 2 and for two years was a greeter at Wal-mart. She was a member of Blessing Heights Worship Center in Cassville. Services were held Tuesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial was at Russell Cemetery in Butterfield.
