Head-on collision kills 21-year-old Golden man

A Golden man died Thursday in a wreck at 9:50 p.m. on Highway F, one mile northwest of Eagle Rock.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Dakota Ball, 21, of Golden, was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla westbound when an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup, being driven by Carter Fletcher, 16, ofd Eagle Rock, crossed the center line and struck Ball's vehicle head-on.

Ball was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 p.m. by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charles McManus. His body was transported to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Fletcher suffere moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Ball was wearing a safety device. It is unknown if Fletcher was wearing one. Both vehicles were totaled.

This is the 109th fatality of 2017 for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry and Lawrence.
