Pet of the Week

Meet Scorch, the Haven of the Ozarks Pet of the Week. This volunteer favorite has been residing at the Haven for all of his 10 years after being admitted to the Haven as a puppy. Scorch came to us with skin issues and it took a fair amount of time to get him ready for adoption. By that time, he had outgrown his puppy stage and had fewer interested potential adopters. On top of that, he has a shy personality with new people and isn’t one to come right up to make friends with a stranger. Before we knew it, he had spent many years here. Scorch is happy at the Haven living with his best dog friend, Kiska. However, we want him to know the love of a real home in his retirement years. Winters can be hard on our older residents, and it would be a dream come true for Scorch to have his own warm bed to enjoy. He’ll make a great walking buddy for you, will get along with your other dogs (although he’ll probably want to be the alpha), and will love you like crazy once he’s comfortable with you (it won’t take long!). You can meet him at the Haven from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. any day of the week, or call 417-835-3647 for more information.
