Martin John Schmitt
Martin John Schmitt, 88, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Berryville, Ark.
He was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Karl and Bertha (Schilling) Schmitt. On Sept. 7, 1993, in Shell Knob he was united in marriage to Delores Westendorf who survives. Additional survivors include: one daughter, Diana Richardson and her husband Dan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sons, Darryl Schmitt and his wife Brenda of Rosemount, Minn., and Ron Schmitt and his wife Mignonne of Urbandale, Iowa; one stepson, Mark Miche and his wife Nancy of Jesup, Iowa; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Thomas in infancy; one brother, Ed Schmitt; and one sister, Sally Wagner.
He received his education in Iowa, graduating from Dubuque Senior High School. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was regional sales manager for International Harvester in Oelwein, Iowa, for 42 years. Twenty-nine years ago, he moved from Iowa to Shell Knob. He was a member of Eagles Lodge in Shell Knob.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
