Emmett R. Allen, 88, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.

He was born May 15, 1929, in Golden, the son of Arthur and Nancy “Annie” (Collins) Allen. On July 25, 1953, in Sturgis, Ky., he was united in marriage to Mary “Kathleen” Smith, who preceded him in death on April 19, 2016. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Joe Allen; and 10 siblings.

Survivors include; three sons, Greg Allen and his wife Karen and Mitch Allen and his wife Janice all of Cassville, and Paul Allen of Purdy; one daughter, Jennifer Swider and her husband Clarence of Gainesville, Va.; one brother, Kenneth Allen of Golden; one sister, Lois Buckley of Douglass, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He received his education at Oak Grove School and attended Wichita Business College in Wichita, Kan. For several years, he owned and operated The Airport Limousine Service in Wichita and also Red Ball Wrecker Corporation. In 1971, he moved from Wichita to southwest Missouri and farmed until 2005. About three years ago he started Golden Discount Corner Convenience Store. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Cassville.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial with military honors will be at McGuire Cemetery in Viola.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
