Ridgley Baptist named Friend of Education for Wheaton schools

Wednesday, November 22, 2017
On Tuesday Nov. 14, Ridgley Southern Baptist Church was recognized as a ‘Friend of Education’ for its many acts of service to the Wheaton school district, at the 20th Annual Celebration of Schools, hosted by the Southwest Center for Educational Excellence and Missouri Southern State University. The church was nominated by the school district for the award. The Ridgley organization serves the students and staff members in a variety of ways: they organize and deliver healthy, ready-to-eat food for at-risk students to eat over the weekend; they have painted the school’s gym on numerous occasions; have assisted and completed several construction projects at the district; and lent the use of their equipment and facilities when additional space and support was needed. They are an ongoing source of encouragement to staff members with dinners, snacks and treats. They also support the FCA program with breakfast at different times.
