Loretta Jeane Mitchell
Loretta Jeane Mitchell, 93, of Seligman, passed away on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Jan. 10, 2914, in Barry County, daughter of Thomas Hart Benton and Eva (Gemmecke) Smith. She married Seligman native Clyde Mitchell on Nov. 29, 1945, in Miami, Okla. They moved to Seligman in 1954 where Clyde worked at the Bank of Seligman and eventually purchased it in 1972. During the time of their ownership of the bank, she worked side-by-side with her husband in the bank. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Seligman.
Survivors include: two sons, Burl B. Mitchell and his wife Debra, of Cassville, and Charlie James Mitchell and his wife Lisa, of Seligman; two daughters, Sandra Jean Tilford and her husband Darrel, of Seligman, and Mary Jane Davis and her husband Gary, of Cassville; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde on Nov. 28, 1998, and two sisters, Mary Frieda Hendon and Wilma Dean Williams.
Funeral services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church in Seligman, with Pastor Bob Scott officiating. Burial was at Seligman City Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville.
