Play to feature local actors from ages 5 to 75

Shell Knob in the Spotlight (SKITS), a community theater made up of volunteer actors that continues to gain ground in popularity, has announced its fall play — a wacky comedy entitled "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon."

The production is an attempt by two narrators to recreate all 209 of the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm in a wild, fast-paced extravaganza.

The play will be held Nov. 3 and 4 at 6:30 p.m., and Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Shell Knob, located off Highways YY and 39.

Rehearsals are in full swing, and the cast includes children, many seasoned actors, and some who are venturing onto a stage for the first time. Cast members include: Anne and Michayla Hoffman, Bob and Barb Van Dusen, Don Herbert, Heather, Heath, Uriah, Evie and Asher Andres, Paula Harris, Lisa Miller, Liz Stevenson, Brandon Johnson, Lexi Sanders, Paul and Sue Ramonette, Anyssa Wright, Cliff Przybyl, Shay Swihart-Allen, Pastor Bill Kenagy, Karin Stanley, Kathy Patterson and Jeanette Cassidy.

Co-Directors Kim Przybyl and Patty Ellison, along with crew members, are managing costume and prop creations, stage and set design, sound effects and lighting effects.

Przybl said she was excited about the play.

“Since the beginning of summer, I’ve had the privilege of observing 24 cast members and several more crew members dedicate their time, incredible talent and work ethic to make this play an amazing weekend of entertainment for our guests," Przybyl said. "This year’s casting call was most exciting because it brought out actors of all ages, from 5 to 75-plus, and nine actors in this play are new to SKITS. We are having a blast getting to know each other and mentor the young ones in our community."

Adult tickets are $7 in advance and $9 at the door. Ages 12 and under are free. Tickets are available for sale at Jug n Plug, Arvest Bank, and the Chamber of Commerce, all located in Shell Knob. Tickets can be reserved in advance, and paid at the door by calling 417-858-9590, or by texting last name, date of play, and number in party to 417-665-9763.
