Mercy Hospital Cassville's Senior Life Solutions (SLS) program will soon welcome another program at its sister hospital, Mercy Hospital Berryville (Arkansas).

The program opened at Mercy Hospital Cassville in 2014, and is an intensive outpatient group therapy program designed to meet the unique needs of older adults over the age of 65 struggling with depression and anxiety often related to aging.

In total, there are over 45 Senior Life Solutions programs in 17 states nationally.

Individuals may benefit from the SLS program if they are experiencing any of the following common indicators or triggers:

• Recently experienced a traumatic event

• Lost a spouse or close family member

• Loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities

• Changes in appetite

• Difficulty sleeping

• Loss of energy

• Feelings of sadness or grief lasting more than two weeks

• Feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness

Following an individual assessment, participants meet three times per week in a supportive, encouraging group setting. Program staff at Mercy Hospital Cassville includes Program Director Susan Poehling RN; Program Therapist Susan Rhoads, LCSW; Office and Patient Coordinator Katherine Setzer, RMA; and Medical Director and Psychiatrist Osamede Edokpolo, MD.
